On one of the first ski trips i went on with Sue and Peter,Sue asked the immortal question which was to be the cause of pain,the odd blood loss and loads of fun. "who wants to have a go at snowboarding ?" I forget how many went to the hire shop, but by the end of the day,it was Sue and myself left standing, literally ! We both crashed a lot, but it was Sue who made the first turn without catching an edge. from then on,we were both hooked on snowboarding, and for the next 3 or 4 years it would be Peter, Joan, Tom, Philip and others being followed by two "plastic soldiers" hopping about on our boards, falling off chair and drag lifts, having a great time. Each year Sue would have a new trick to pass on, or just something she wanted to get better at, which would usually end up with one of us falling over in deep soft snow, while the others did proper skiing, waiting for us to catch up. The piste wont't be as much fun from now on.
