Enduro memories

Mike Burns phoned up the other day to talk about Susan. He reminded me of an evening we shared with Pete & Sue, Tom & Joan, Chris, Phil and others, whilst staying in Thetford for the Breckland Enduro. It's funny but after all the racing, the striving for a good result, the breakdowns and the crashes, it's a simple night in a pub that sums it all up. Mike and I had drunk a pint or two and, as usual, the yarns were starting to flow. If only we rode as well as we talked, we'd have been Experts! Somehow, we got on to the subject of the men's double Luge; don't ask why, nobody could tell you. The more we promoted preposterous and lude methods of ensuring the top bloke didn't fall off, the more Sue howled with laughter. I can still picture the scene. All the gang there, crying with laughter. Sue laughing more than most and enjoying the stupid, ridiculous conversation. Some people never get it, they read too much into things. Sue got it. She knew how to laugh and she was decent enough to laugh at our jokes. And that means a lot to a clown. Well, the clowns aren't laughing today.
